Weekend Blast II: Duke Dumont - The Giver (Original Mix)

As I sat in my chair listening to Duke Dumont’s The Giver for the first time, the word that kept coming to mind was infectious. For starters, there is only one line in the entire song (“You’re that special someone that makes what to give it”). Aptly titled, the track gives us a taste of vocal house at its finest and will surely spice up your next party. Make sure to check out Dukes For Club Play Only Vol 2 EP out now.

Weekend Blast: Ben Howard - The Fear (Moonlight Matters Rework)

English singer-songwriter Ben Howard’s The Fear is easily one of my favorite songs of the past year. Released in late 2011, it’s a perfect representation of modern-day folk rock. Though there is nothing wrong with the original, Belgium-based DJ/producer Moonlight Matters decided to speed up it up a bit and in doing so created an absolute masterpiece. Show him some love on Facebook and listen to the original here (highly recommended).

Have a Sample: Robosonic - The Edge

In 1999, rap legend Dr. Dre sampled David McCallum’s The Edge and turned it into The Next Episode, one of the biggest hits of the 2000s. As someone who loves the track and has listened to it hundreds of times, I was a bit skeptical about Berlin duo Robosonic changing it up. All the skepticism I had was completely washed away upon first listen as the song is extremely well produced and adds a new flare. Two thumbs up for the awesome video as well.

Song of the Week: Hot Natured - Benediction

Though the Ibiza season is now over for partygoers, the DJ/producers who rock the island are still hard at work. Made up of heavyweights Jamie JonesLee FossLuca C, and Ali Love, the house outfit Hot Natured has created a serious contender for best song of the year with their newest release Benediction. A combination of amazing vocals and flawless production, the track will surely become a staple in many DJ sets. Despite a release date of October 29, you can grab it now on iTunes and groove to its soulful beat.

Have a Sample: Daniel Dubb - I Got 5 On It (Original Rework)

In 1995, Oakland rap duo Luniz released one of the Bay Area’s most recognized anthems and international hit I Got 5 On It. Sampling Club Nouveau’s Why You Treat Me So Bad, Kool & The Gang’s Jungle Boogie, and Audio Two’s Top Billin’, the track still gets major play today. While the original is flawless, Toronto-based DJ/producer Daniel Dubb took up the challenge of a rework and I have to say it is very impressive. This one is rising quickly on the charts and for good reason.

Weekend Blast: Justice vs. Simian ft. MGMT - We Are Your Kids Friends (Dino Roc TRAP Remix)

Member of the 914 Hit Squad, New Yorker Dino Roc has a knack for making great bootlegs and remixes. We Are Your Kids Friends is no exception as the DJ/producer takes on two classic tracks and turns them into one absolute banger. Throw this one on at your next party and I’m sure everyone will be asking who made it. Check him out Facebook and SoundCloud for some free downloads.
